Geoff Saves $1,900 a Year with an 8.8kW Solar and Battery System
The Challenge
Geoff works from his home in Jeeralang Junction, Victoria, a remote valley location where sun exposure isn’t always perfect. He wanted to future-proof his home against frequent outages, reduce his energy bills, and make sure his property was ready for a future EV or hybrid vehicle. His main priority was maximising roof space to get the most out of limited sunlight hours.
The Motivation
For Geoff, energy independence meant more than just savings. It was about reliability, resilience, and ensuring he could work without disruption. With plans to purchase an EV, he wanted a system designed to grow with his household’s future energy needs.
The Solution
Wattle Powr designed a tailored 8.8 kW solar + battery system, carefully configured to maximise generation in his valley location. Alongside the solar panels, we upgraded his switchboard and paired his system with a Sungrow hybrid inverter and high-capacity battery for both efficiency and backup power.
System Installed
20 x Trina Vertex S 440W Solar Panels (TSM-440NEG9R.28)
Sungrow 8kW Hybrid Inverter (1 Phase) with Energy Meter
Sungrow HV SBR096 Battery (9.6 kWh capacity)
Annual Energy Generation: 9.71 MWh
Annual Savings: $1,890
The Outcome
Geoff’s system has performed above expectations. Over 15 months, he’s already enjoyed summer power bills in credit and seen winter bills drastically reduced. With blackout protection and EV-readiness, Geoff now has peace of mind and a home built for the future.
Happy Customer
“Our solar system has been operating for 15 months perfectly. We live in a remote area in a valley without all-day sun. Thanks to the consultation, design and install of our panels, battery and new switchboard we had a couple of power bills with credit over summer and have drastically reduced our winter power bills.”
